Software built for the way you already work.
Off-the-shelf software makes you bend your business to fit the tool. We build the tool around your business instead: an app your team uses every day, a quoting tool, a job tracker or a client dashboard, built against how you actually work and to solve your specific problem. We then hand over the keys so you own it outright. Most projects go live in 2 to 10 weeks.
Common questions
What if off-the-shelf software already does most of it?
Then we say so. If a tool you can rent fits the way you work, buying it is the right call and we will point you at it. Custom software is for when it doesn't.
Is it an app?
Usually, yes: a web app your team opens in the browser or on a phone or tablet. It's built for your own staff, not the App Store, so there's nothing to download and no store to wait on.
Do I own the code?
Yes, outright, once it is paid for. No per-seat fees, no rights kept back by us. The code is yours, the data is yours.
How do we get you set up?
Once it is built and signed off, we install it, connect it to the tools you already use, and walk you and your team through it until you are running it without us. The handover is part of the job, not an added cost.
What does it cost to run?
Usually a small monthly figure for hosting and any services the tool uses, billed at cost. We tell you the number before you start.
What custom actually means
Software as a service is built for the average business and you rent it every month. Custom software is built for yours, and you own it once it is paid for. That is the whole difference, and it is the one that bites when the off-the-shelf tool almost fits but not quite, and you end up paying for three subscriptions with a spreadsheet holding them together. You buy a system once, not a seat forever.
What we build
The common ones are quoting apps, booking systems, job trackers, client dashboards, and portals that plug into the tools you already run, like Xero. Most are web apps: your team opens them in the browser or on a phone or tablet, built for your own staff rather than the App Store. Picture a quote done on site. You measure up, take a photo, pick the materials, and the app hands you a price you can send before you leave, instead of an evening at the kitchen table.
Two ways it is sized
A small build is a single tool done fast, from $6,000, live in 4 to 8 weeks: a quoting app, a timesheet and leave app, or a register that chases renewals for you. A medium build joins several parts into one system and is priced per job from $16,000, because the scope varies too much to put a sticker on: a portal holding every job and subcontractor, wired into your accounts, with the quoting, scheduling and follow-up joined to it.
You own it. No subscription, no lock-in.
The software we build is yours. You own the code outright once the work is paid for. There are running costs and we tell you what they are up front, usually a small monthly figure for hosting and any services the tool calls on, billed at cost. No per-seat fee, no HeimMax subscription, nothing you lose the day you stop paying.
What it costs
A small build starts at $6,000. A medium build is priced per job from $16,000, because a system with several moving parts is scoped, not picked off a list. After the first conversation you get an Opportunity Report within 48 hours with what we'd build, what it costs and how long it takes. If the process is complicated, we suggest a paid Discovery first, priced up front. You decide from there, with no obligation.
Is it the right call for you?
Custom software earns its place when the off-the-shelf tools do not fit the way you work, or when you are stitching several of them together by hand. If a piece of software you can buy already does the job well, we will tell you to buy it. The way to know is a conversation about where your time goes.
